Sharon M. Williams
Director, L. G. Hanscom Field
Sharon serves as Massport’s Director of Hanscom Field. At Hanscom, Sharon oversees the operation of New England’s busiest General Aviation airport. As the director she is responsible for the safe and efficient performance of the facility. Her responsibilities include managing the airfield, instituting effective disaster planning/training, airport security, and enforcing the airfield operating regulations. She is responsible for overall supervision of the administrative and maintenance workforce, and develops programs and procedures for effective maintenance of the facility. Development of community, tenant and local official’s information and liaison programs are her responsibility, as well as maintaining lines of communication and cooperation with the FAA, U.S. Air Force, community groups and airport tenants.
Sharon has been employed by Massport for 30 years. She started her Massport career as an Operations Manager at Hanscom Field. Sharon continued her career at Logan International Airport in various positions including, Manager of Terminal B, Manager of Airside/Landside and Fleet Maintenance, Manager of Airport Facilities and Deputy Director of Aviation Services. In 2011, Sharon returned to Hanscom as the Manager of Airport Administration and became the Airport Director in February of 2013.
Sharon received her private pilot’s license at the age of 17 and has been a commercial pilot for 34 years. Sharon has a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Management and Flight Technology from Florida Institute of Technology and a Master of Science in Aviation and Aerospace Operations and Management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
