The Lexington Chamber of Commerce with the generous support of Cambridge Savings Bank presents Women-in-Business Series. This event series includes a segment of around-the-table introductions followed by a featured guest speaker. In addition to facilitated professional networking, the series places a particular emphasis on learning from one another and sharing work experiences in a friendly, open environment. This event will include admission, light breakfast and coffee.
At our May 10th session, we will hear remarks from Lizabeth Festa, the Executive Director of the Josiah Willard Hayden Recreation Centre. The Centre is in Lexington, Massachusetts and it is a privately endowed non-profit corporation that provides a wide range of recreational, athletic, and social activities for the youth of Lexington. In addition, a special adult program is offered to Lexington residents over age 18 and to adults employed within the town of Lexington. The Centre has two facilities. The Recreation Centre houses a swimming pool, gymnasium, weight training room, dance studio, gymnastics room, the Hayden After-School program, the Josiah Hayden Pre-School, ten activity rooms, and a large athletic field that supports various classes and summer camps. The John P. Chase Skating Facility has a modern indoor full-size ice surface with a full complement of programs including all levels of instruction and general skating sessions.
Mrs. Festa received her B.S. in Physical Education with a concentration in Recreation from Bridgewater State College, and her M.A. in Public Administration from Framingham State College. She is currently pursuing her Certificate of Accounting from Dean College in Franklin, MA. She has earned her Certification as a Park and Recreation Professional from the National Recreation and Park Association and is a member of the Massachusetts Recreation and Park Association. Mrs. Festa has been employed by the Hayden Centre since November 13, 1996 when she was hired as the Physical Education Director and Summer Day Camp Director. In September 1999 she was promoted to the Recreation Facility Director and worked in that position for 16 years until July 1, 2015 when she transitioned in the Executive Director’s role.
